To help attract foreign investment, someone needs to get serious about cleaning up Jackson County and several other counties in West Virginia. Many of the photos in this article were taken in front of the industrial park in Millwood or within about a mile of the industrial park. Trash and litter is bad for business, and it is bad for tourism. Who would want to pay for a hotel room to come and look at all the filth? (Not me!) Backwater from Little Millcreek - the water empties into the Ohio River just a few hundred feet away. In the water are old tires, trash, and other debris. Maybe the people at the Jackson County Health Dept. can volunteer some of their time to get out and help clean up the county and prevent some potential health problems, such as those caused by mosquitos. If unclean (contaminated) water isn't a health issue, then I don't know what is. If the Health Dept. members have time to sit in their air conditioned office and file charges against local businesses for violating the smoking ban, and if the DOH can repeatedly drive past tires and trash along the highway (in their air conditioned state vehicles), perhaps someone needs to give them all a trash bag and ask them to "GET OUT AND PICK UP THE TRASH!
